The product has been the result of many surgeries, constant pain, and more because the mesh itself moved internally, broke, or even became embedded in the bone itself and therefore, impossible to remove. In 2012, Ethicon removed the product from the market, but only after selling nearly 800,000 surgical mesh kits.

This is now only one of the major legal issues Johnson & Johnson is facing, as its ever-popular baby powder has recently been linked to ovarian cancer in women. Just this month, J&J was ordered to pay $110 million in damages to a woman who used the talc-based powder for years and got ovarian cancer as a result.
