Johnson & Johnson has been a trusted name in household goods for generations and is now recently under fire for a number of different problems caused by products used by women. For years, it was engrained in the minds of women across the country that Johnson & Johnson makes the most trustworthy products that are the best thing you can buy for yourself and your baby. What could possibly go wrong? Now, we are finding that many of these trusted products are causing painful and even life-threatening health issues.

One major lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson is in regards to the 55,000 women who were injured by the company’s transvaginal surgical mesh implants. According to NJ.com, thousands of these lawsuits have been brought by women in New Jersey. The mesh products were made by Ethicon, Inc., which is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. The product has been the result of many surgeries, constant pain, and more because the mesh itself moved internally, broke, or even became embedded in the bone itself and therefore, impossible to remove. In 2012, Ethicon removed the product from the market, but only after selling nearly 800,000 surgical mesh kits.

This is now only one of the major legal issues Johnson & Johnson is facing, as its ever-popular baby powder has recently been linked to ovarian cancer in women. Just this month, J&J was ordered to pay $110 million in damages to a woman who used the talc-based powder for years and got ovarian cancer as a result.
