Major automobile corporation, Toyota, just announced that they will be recalling 645,000 vehicles across the globe in response to an issue with possible airbag deployment during a car accident. The defect that was found in the airbag systems could prevent the airbags on the sides or front of the vehicle to activate.

It is important to note that this recall applies to the following vehicles:

  • 2016 Toyota Prius
  • 2016 Lexus RX
  • 2015 and 2016 Lexus NX
  • Toyota Alphard, Vellfire, Noah, Sienta, Esquire, Corolla, Highlander, Voxy, Hilux, Levin, and Succeed models that were produced between May 2015 and March 2016

Owners of these vehicles will be notified towards the end of March 2018. Toyota and Lexus dealerships will replace the airbag systems if they are defective and the serial numbers match up.

Airbag issues are very serious and can result in the serious injury or death of passengers who are involved in motor vehicle accidents if they fail to deploy. When a manufacturer is negligent and quality assurance measures aren’t taken before the product makes it out to the public, consumers can become victims. If you have been injured because the airbags in your vehicle failed to deploy, it is important to discuss the case with an experienced attorney who can help you explore your legal options.
